Forces Reunion Lunch
OH Armed Forces Gathering August 2025.I am pleased to report that a very enjoyable gathering took place which was held at The Anchor Inn, Tintern on the 16th August. A number of apologies were received prior to the event from OH’s currently on deployment or had other commitments. Nevertheless the following OH’s managed to make the first of what I hope will be many future gatherings of this nature for those OH’s who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces. Mike Moffatt the SSI at HCS from 1989 - 2010 both organised and hosted the inaugural event on a warm sunny August day. The Anchor Inn is located on the banks of the River Wye with the old ruined Cistercian Abbey just a stones throw away.The following OH’s and staff were in attendance, Howard Tomlinson (ex Headmaster, HCS), Andrew Eames (ex Contingent Commander HCS CCF), Alex Campbell (ex- Quartermaster/Secretary HCS CCF), Ben Moore, Amy McMurray (nee Moffatt), Frank McMurray (husband), Lee Maxwell, Jake Lightowler, Felicity Hunter-Choat, Sarah Dinwiddie-Choat (Hunter-Choat), Sam Scotcher, Alex Laws, Toby Whitmarsh, Andrew Snell, Joe Fisher, Harry Wargen, Mark Theobald, James Wear, Martin Everett, Steven Morris and Russell Atherton.Apologies were received from, Edward Goldsmith, Edward Marvin, Nick Rutsch, Paddy Keating, Robina Farrimond, George Probert, James Walker, George B-Lossock, Richard Simcock, Emily Slayman, Ed Deutsch, James Evans, James Thompson, Verity Morris & Emma Fonseca.The consensus of opinion was that the gathering should be repeated perhaps for the first two or three years (2026/2027) on an annual basis and after this on a biennial basis.
