OHiL lunchtime drinks
Despite a few last minute cancellations from several OHs who had originally planned to join us at Doggett’s Coat & Badge beside the Thames, a total of 16 people attended our usual lunchtime event. Guests included Claire Morgan-Jones & Helen Pearson from the HCS Dvelopment Office.Apart from those of us who live in the Home Counties who can reach The Capital easily, we also welcomed OHs from Devon, Sussex, Shropshite, East Anglia, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire.As with our previous reunion in October 2023, (it represented TWENTY Years since we started up such meetings in London) this particular event was once more conducted on a strictly casual basis, with no formalities involved, save that of signing the Visitors Book. It meant that people could arrive whenever it suited them, then leave at will if they happened to have another engagement that same afternoon. One OH (who only left HCS in 2005) found time to take an extended lunchbreak from his workplace across the Thames so he could join us. It is therefore hoped that even more younger London based people might consider taking part in these ‘gatherings‘ and thus treat the event as a means of catching up with their former Cathedral School contemporaries.The general concensus of opinion was that we should continue staging similar informal reunions in future, meaning that we plan to hold an autumn get-together during October 2024.
